Auto-posting Facebook Posts To Twitter
Twitter and Facebook are to completely different social networking sites. Something that people tend to do a lot (I’m guilty too) is post something long on Facebook. Once it gets posted on twitter the text gets cut off because on twitter you are very limited with the amount of characters you can post while on Facebook the limitations aren’t that high. Also when you post a picture on Facebook, it will appear as a link on twitter, many users even consider it as spam and your comment may be flagged.
I’ve noticed people started using hashtags a lot more than usual on their social media. It’s ok to use hashtags but it becomes an issue when you excessively use it. Hashtags are only meant to highlight key words in your posts. This means that if you use hashtags on every single word it will make your post lose its value or relevance.
Posting Too Much Content At Once
Bombarding people with many posts at a time is something you should never do. I remember constantly posting many things on all my social networks. I noticed a lot of people kept saying how it was very annoying and I also ended up being unfollowed by many of them too. Try posting only a few times a day. Post a maximum of 3-4 posts a day and you’ll be fine.
Asking People To Follow You Back
This is something that you should avoid at all times. This is extremely annoying and you will only lose followers rather than gaining them. This applies on all social networking sites. This problem is particularly common on Instagram. I constantly see comments from people saying “follow back” and “f4f”, when people see such comments they consider them as spam. Someone will most likely block your comment or your account.
Keeping Your Social Media Accounts Private
If you want more followers or simply want people to view the content you post on your site, don’t keep your account private. People can’t easily access your content if your account is private. Lot of people (including myself) find it very tedious to ask permission to follow someone just to view their content. Some people do actually ask you permission to follow you but most will prefer ignoring your account.
Talking Negatively About Any Brand
Doing this on your site will only make you look ridiculous. This is also very unprofessional whether your social network is intended for business purposes or for simply sharing your everyday life.
Posting The Exact Same Message Everywhere
Seeing the same thing over and over again can seem very annoying by your followers. Try posting different messages rather than using the same one on all of them.
Honestly all the things I mentioned on this list are things that I used to do. Unfortunately I learned the hard way about how all of these things are something to avoid. Don’t make the same mistakes that I did and even if you did make them, don’t worry about it. You can always correct any mistake.
